Little Talbot Island is hands down one of the best beaches in the area, with easy parking, bathrooms, and a quiet, natural setting that feels untouched. St. Augustine is a short drive south and offers excellent beaches plus the charm of being the oldest settlement in the United States, with historic buildings converted into restaurants, bars, and shops. Just avoid downtown Jacksonville during the holiday events — traffic and crowds get intense — but by January it’s back to being one of the easiest big cities to navigate.

Jacksonville also stands out for its diverse neighborhoods: newer master-planned communities in Nocatee and St Johns County, historic charm in Riverside/Avondale, and affordable starter homes in Arlington or Mandarin — all of which give VA buyers solid options no matter their budget or lifestyle.
